About the Course

The Michael Caines Academy is no ordinary course - with higher entry criteria and a rigorous interview process, we offer just 20 places per year to students who demonstrate a real passion for the industry and the ambition to excel.

Our aim is to drive and inspire students to achieve the highest level of excellence in all aspects of the hospitality industry.

Students complete the VRQ 1 and 2 Diplomas in Professional Cookery over 2 years, gaining practical experience in both hospitality and catering in the college's commercial restaurant @thirty-four, alongside regular visits to top hotels, restaurants and food producers and participating in a series of master classes from visiting professionals.

Academy students put their knowledge and skills in to practice in 6-week work placements each year and participate in a range of commissions, including supporting chefs at the Exeter Food Festival and serving food at public events.
